Rodney is running to continue serving the constituents of Beauregard, Sabine, and Vernon parishes. In 2019, Rodney ran on the promise to represent his constituents full time as their voice in Baton Rouge and that is what he has done. Representative Rodney Schamerhorn dedicates his full-time attention and efforts to serve the members of District 24. Believing it is imperative that a representative carries the agenda of his constituents not his personal itinerary to Baton Rouge, Representative Schamerhorn focuses on critical issues of education, healthcare, infrastructure, less taxes and financial transparency.
Retired, with forty years as a successful business owner of Schamerhorn, Inc., a trucking, site work, rolloff container, demo and construction debris landfill service, he has been continually recognized as a leader in the industry. In addition, he is a state licensed contractor. This experience guides his valuable contributions to significant committees, caucuses and delegations to which he is a member. These include committee memberships on the Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs, the Natural Resources and Environment, the Transportation, Highways and Public Works, and the Legislative Audit Advisory Council. In addition, Representative Schamerhorn is privileged to be a member of the Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation, the Louisiana Rural Caucus and the Conservative Caucus. Most recently, invited to join the Freedom Caucus an honor resulting on his voting record.
Back at home, Representative Schamerhorn is the father of two highly successful business owners and a proud grandfather. Representative Schamerhorn is a member of Anacoco Baptist Church. Additionally, he is a member of various organizations such as: the Louisiana Solid Waste Association Louisiana (currently serving as a Board Member), Lions Club, a lifetime member of the Louisiana Jaycee’s, both the Greater Sabine and the Vernon Chambers of Commerce, Beefmasters Breeder’s Association (assisting the organization of the label of Nolen Ryan lean and tender beef available in Kroger stores and additional food sources across the Southern U.S.) and the Louisiana Cattlemen Association. Volunteering is near and dear to his heart for both Louisiana 4-H and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Rodney Schamerhorn simply wants to bring positive change to our communities that his constituents and the citizens of Louisiana deserve.
